Barbara Shachnow joined the firm in 2023 and is a partner in the Finance Practice.  Her experience includes complex capital markets, balance sheet, portfolio and syndicated mortgage and mezzanine loans; co-lender, syndication, participation and intercreditor arrangements; construction lending; bridge lending; loan-on-loan and warehouse financing; preferred equity transactions; joint venture transactions; and loan sales, including loan portfolio sale transactions and negotiation of loan purchase and sale agreements.  Barbara regularly represents a collection of traditional financial institutions and non-bank lenders, advising them on a broad range of commercial real estate finance transactions involving office, retail, industrial, multifamily, hotel and mixed-use properties.

In addition, Barbara has experience advising on the workout and restructuring of troubled mortgage and mezzanine financings, including defaulted construction loans and CMBS loans in special servicing.

Prior to joining A&S, Barbara was a partner in the finance practice at Dechert LLP.  Barbara is a graduate of Columbia Law School and received her B.A. from Barnard College, and is admitted to practice in New York.
